To be listened to in conjunction with White Trash’s ‘I Still Don’t Love You’ (see ABON 0161).
The Flying Lizard’s 1978 masterpiece is as clever and witty and musically original and fresh as the White Trash track. But what White Trash manage to do, which the Flying Lizards never quite did, is to do all that whilst creating something that is also genuinely, credibly, danceable.
And to slightly rub salt in the Lizards’ wounds, anyone who spent the early 80s listening to the Lizards’ truly wonderful, mutant but ultimately not-very-danceable-really music – including ‘Money’ but also even better tracks like, ‘TV’ and ‘Sex Machine’ (see ABON 0148) – will also know that they will be so so envious of the sound of metal bashing milk bottle that White Trash seemlessly embedded in their track.
